The door opened and a volunteer walked in. The phone rang, it was a donor. This happens every day in our organization. But what happens, if in our busyness, we fail to acknowledge? When we put our ‘to-do’s’ or what we’re doing right now, and our ‘busyness’ ahead of the person who calls or walks in, essentially we are saying “I don’t have time for you right now.”

When we don’t greet readily, when we don’t answer the phone by three rings. . . our message to the Volunteer and the Donor is that something else is more important right now. And that is wrong.

We need to remember, without them…there is no us.
